The Doctoral Program in Mathematics Education at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Yogyakarta State University (UNY), successfully hosted a Scientific Article Coaching Clinic. This academic event took place on Tuesday, March 7, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This event was specifically designed to assist doctoral students in preparing their research manuscripts to meet publication standards and be ready for publication in various reputable scientific journals.

Unlike the usual lecture format, which has often been conducted in a hybrid or online format, this Coaching Clinic was held entirely in person. The decision to hold the event in person was made to maximize academic interaction between the speakers and participants. Physical presence has been shown to foster a more intensive and focused discussion atmosphere, enabling technical and substantive writing challenges to be addressed more comprehensively. The event, enthusiastically attended by students from the Doctoral Program in Mathematics Education, featured two experts highly skilled in their fields. Serving as both speakers and primary mentors were Prof. Wahyu Setyaningrum, Ph.D., and Dr. Muhammad Irfan, S.Si., M.Pd. The presence of these two academics provided valuable insights and motivation for the students, given their excellent academic track records in scientific writing and publication reviews.

The coaching sessions were designed with a highly personalized and in-depth approach. Coaching was not conducted in a traditional classroom setting; it was delivered one-on-one to each participant. During these sessions, each student’s article draft was critically and meticulously analyzed by the speakers. Participants immediately receive specific feedback for improvement, ranging from refining the research focus and grammar to the structure of scientific arguments. Through this comprehensive evaluation, the students’ written work is expected to become much more polished and ready for submission to target journals.
